The challenge was not just about finding candidates who have the right skill set but also people who will fit in with the company culture of Interoute. The search was on.
Our telecoms client first approached local recruitment agencies to help find a suitable candidate but after seeing a number of potentials, that did not fit the bill, they decided to turn to MHR Group.
They had already been in touch with us previously and were aware of what they could potentially do for their company. In essence, MHR Group would find, select and train a graduate calibre individual to initially cover the ‘reception desk’ and would hit the ground running.
It was time to put the theory to the test.
We went straight to work by considering existing candidates and by marketing the role through targeted advertising, email marketing and tapping into social media channels to ensure maximum exposure. Applications were received, and suitable candidates were then screened and put through the rigorous assessment process.
We came across Emily, a recent graduate with limited work experience who stood out with the right attitude, enthusiasm and ambition to succeed. MHR Group provided her with career guidance and advised temping would be the best route to assist her to gain work experience.
Emily was offered a temping assignment as a receptionist with the international firm.
'I did a temp placement with MHR Group to give me some work experience which would be really valuable for my future. Covering the reception desk improved my transferable skills - such as communication as I regularly had to deal with clients and suppliers. Plus it really gave me a sense of confidence and determination that has been vital in helping me eventually secure a permanent job as a ‘Human Resources Administrator.'
Six months later Emily was offered a permanent role as a HR Assistant with the said company. ‘Although, my learning curve has been due to my own commitment and enthusiasm for me to take advantage of such an opportunity, most of this would not have been possible without the support and guidance of MHR Group’ as well as their belief in my capabilities’, says Emily.
Since her appointment, Emily has launched herself into the role and exceeded expectations. She has gained more exposure within the organisation where the employee culture is invaluable.
